Network Engineer
Join us as Network Engineer (Telford/Remote): own day-to-day ISP network config, fault resolution and migrations in a collaborative, hybrid role with growth and AI-assisted tooling.
We are looking for a Network Engineer
Location: Telford or Remote
Salary: £55,000-58,000
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday
Work pattern: Hybrid, 3 days in the office
About the role
The Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, fault resolution and change management of the Entanet ISP network.
Working in conjunction with a team of Network Architects, Network Engineer and Systems Infrastructure Engineer, you shall help plan and execute the tasks required to separate Entanet’s network from CityFibre, optimise and decommission legacy as well as build new capabilities that the business requires.
Key responsibilities
Carry out day-to-day configuration, fault resolution and change management across the ISP network.
Manage BGP peering, IS-IS, VRFs, VLANs, MPLS and IP transit and peering.
Maintain the NetBox IPAM and NMS and keep network records accurate.
Collaborate with the network architects with HLD/LLDs.
Collaborate with the system infrastructure engineer for any network related systems and networking requirements.
Support circuit provisioning and carrier ENNI handoffs.
Support colocation and backhaul rationalisation and circuit migrations from EAD LA (unbundled exchanges) to carrier Ethernet.
Act as the escalation point from the NOC team for complex network faults and changes.
Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain network availability.
Leverage AI-assisted agents and copilots (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate implementation and diagnostics, automate repetitive change tasks and reduce MTTR.
About you
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting carrier or ISP networks in a BAU environment.
Strong working knowledge of BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, EVPN and other carrier architecture.
Experience of circuit provisioning, carrier handoffs and change management at scale.
Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving under pressure.
Methodical approach to change management and documentation.
Able to prioritise across continuous BAU change and incident activity.
Willing to adopt AI copilots to speed up diagnostics and routine change.
It would be great if you have any of the following, but it's not essential:
Experience supporting colocation and backhaul environments.
Exposure to EAD-to-carrier-Ethernet migrations.
Previous experience in a separation or migration programme.
Given Entanet’s current estate, strong familiarity with Cisco ASR routers, and Nexus & Catalyst switches would be beneficial.
Qualifications
Relevant networking certification (e.g. CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP, or equivalent), or equivalent experience.
Right to work in the UK.
What we offer
Competitive base salary.
Generous holiday allowance and flexible working arrangements.
Supportive, inclusive culture with and cross-functional collaboration.
